Queenslanders are different. This is usually a good thing. Here's how to fit in.

Learn to walk, talk, and move slowly , specially in summer. Queensland time is not just a lack of daylight saving. Don't be in a hurry.

Learn to drink XXXX beer and Bundaberg Rum.

Carry insect repellent and sunscreen everywhere.

Wear your thongs . Thongs are rubber sandals worn on your feet. (also known as flip-flops in the some areas of the USA)

Wear a hat.

Tips

  • The scenery and people are great.
  • Just slow down and fit in.
  • "Chill" in the heat.
  • North of Rockhampton is "The Deep North" much like the deep south of America.
  • Brisbane is at the bottom of the state the rest of Queensland ignores them.
  • Brisbane is referred to as Brisvagas.

Warnings

  • Most of the horror stories about things that will kill you in Queensland are true.
  • Do not swim where it says "Do not swim". You can die painfully and quickly from jellyfish sharks or crocodiles and many more dangers.
  • The roads in Queensland are long and boring rest and drive slowly, there will be cattle and kangaroos on most country roads.
